Presidential decree approved investment agreements for the construction of two wind farms in the Samarkand and Jizzakh regions on 7 May.

The agreements with Chinese company Universal Energy were signed on 25 January. Universal Energy’s subsidiaries, Peak Wind Alpha and Peak Wind Beta, will serve as project contractors, having provided foreign bank guarantees totaling $18 million.

Each project entails the construction of wind farms with a capacity of 250 megawatts alongside power transmission lines. The investor plans to allocate $250 million for each project.

The generated electricity will be sold to the National Electric Networks of Uzbekistan under a 25-year purchase obligation.
