Doctor of Medicine and professor Laziz Tuichiev headed Tashkent Medical Academy.
Prior to appointment, Laziz Tuichiev served as deputy minister of Public Health of Uzbekistan from January 2014.
Laziz Tuichiev is a graduate of the medical faculty of the Tashkent State Medical Institute (now the Tashkent Medical Academy), where he performed his professional activities in 1993−2010.
Former rector, Shavkat Karimov, occupied this position for 10 years.
Elmira Basithanova, former chairman of the Women’s Committee of Uzbekistan and the deputy prime minister, became new deputy minister.
