“Citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan are showing high political activity,” chairman of the Central Election Commission Mirza-Ulugbek Abdusalomov said at a briefing for observers and journalists on Sunday.

According to him, as of 13:00, a total of 11,418,273 or 55.89% of voters cast their votes.

“Given the fact that over 33% citizens included in the voters' list have participated in the elections, and in accordance with article 35 of the law „On elections of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan“, elections of the President have been recognized as valid,” Mirza-Ulugbek Abdusalomov said.

“The elections are held in full compliance with the national electoral legislation and democratic principles of transparency, openness and justice,” head of CEC said.
