Yakkasaray mosque in Tashkent held its first Friday namaz (prayer) after capital reconstruction on 16 September. The prayer was conducted by mufti Usmonhon Alimov, the Committee on Religious Affairs said.

The mosque has a history of over 100 years. Its renovated building can accommodate 1,000 worshipers. The mosque walls rise to 23 meters and the minaret to 31 m.

At the end of namaz, the gathered played for peace in Uzbekistan, the country’s prosperity and the rest of the soul of the first President Islam Karimov, who passed on 2 September.
