Year 2017 in Uzbekistan has been proclaimed the Year of dialogue with the people and of people’s interests.

President-elect Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced this at the celebration of the 24th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s Constitution (8 December) in Tashkent on Wednesday.

The tradition to name each year after a certain sphere of life in Uzbekistan started in 1997, which was also the Year of people’s interests. Current year, 2016, was proclaimed Year of healthy mother and child.

  • 2003 — Year of mahalla.
  • 2002 — Year of protection of interests of older generation.
