Sherzod Shermatov has been appointed first deputy minister for development of information technologies and communications, the ministry told Gazeta.uz.

Sherzod Shermatov (born in 1977) is a graduate of the Tashkent State Technical University (1998) and Yale University (USA, 2000).


Prior to this appointment, he worked as first rector of Inha University in Tashkent, which opened in October 2014. Earlier he was vice-chairman of State Committee for Communications, Informatization and Telecommunication Technologies (later transformed into Ministry for Development of IT and Communications).


Previous first deputy minister Alisher Fayzullaev has been appointed as director of the Intellectual Property Agency of Uzbekistan.


Sarvar Bobokhojayev, former manager for administrative issues of Inha University in Tashkent, became its new rector.
