Minister of state for external affairs of India Mobasshar Javed Akbar, who arrived in Uzbekistan on 31 October, visited the grave of the first President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov at Hazrat Hizr cemetery in Samarkand, UzA reported.

“The government and people of India were deeply saddened by death of the first President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov. He was not only head of Uzbekistan, but also a peace-loving and wise politician, who had gained high reputation on international arena,” Mobasshar Javed Akbar said. “Islam Karimov’s had made a great contribution to strengthening cooperation between India and Uzbekistan in trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres. We are ready to continue this consistent cooperation.”

Guests from India visited the Afrosiab museum, with world-famous wall paintings and unique exhibits of the ancient Samarkand’s history., Imam Bukhari and Mirzo Ulugbek memorial complexes, as well as other historical monuments.
