Residents of Nukus, capital of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, felt earthquake at 19:20 on Wednesday, several sources in the city told Gazeta.uz.

“Out office is located in a building with large windows on the firth floor, we could hear the glass vibrating”, chief editor of Nukus Week Azamat Davletmuratov said.

The epicentre of the quake was in west Turkmenistan, near the town of Balkanabat. Its magnitude made up 5.7, according to European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre.
