Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan (CEC) allowed all four registered political parties to participate in 4 December presidential elections, head of CEC Mirza-Ulugbek Abdusalomov said at a briefing in Tashkent on Friday.

Milliy Tiklanish (National Revival) Democratic Party, Movement of Entrepreneurs and Businessmen — Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan (UzLiDeP), People’s Democratic Party of Uzbekistan and Adolat (Justice) Social Democratic Party will participate in the elections, he noted.

Each party now has to collect at least 1% of the total number of voters participating in the elections, i. e. minimum 241,350 signatures out of 21.435 million voters.

Collected signatures have to represent at least 8 of the country’s 14 administratie units (Republic of Karakalpakstan, 12 regions and Tashkent city). Parties can collect not more than 8% of signatures in each administrative unit.

Mirza-Ulugbek Abdusalomov added that so far the commission had accredited about 400 foreign and local journalists to cover the elections.
